450TPH Gold Ore Crushing Solution: High-Hardness Quartzite Processing

A heavy-duty primary crushing circuit engineered for abrasive West African gold mine conditions.

1. Project Overview

A large-scale gold mining operation in Ghana required a robust primary crushing stage to process high-grade gold ore embedded in dense, abrasive quartzite. The primary challenge was the material’s extreme hardness, which caused rapid wear on secondary equipment in their previous setup. They needed a solution capable of processing 450 tons per hour (TPH) with a consistent discharge size to optimize the downstream grinding process.

2. The Apex Engineering Solution

To meet the high-capacity and high-wear resistance requirements, Apex engineers deployed a primary crushing circuit centered around our heavy-duty PE series:

Primary Crushing Stage: The Apex PE900×1200 Jaw Crusher was selected for its 750mm max feed size and powerful crushing force. Its reinforced cast steel frame and high-torque motor allowed it to handle massive quartzite boulders with ease.

Enhanced Wear Life: Given the abrasive nature of gold-bearing quartz, we installed Premium Mn18Cr2 Manganese Liners. This choice extended the liner replacement cycle by 35% compared to standard materials, significantly lowering the cost-per-ton for the client.

Operational Efficiency: The wedge adjustment mechanism enabled the client to maintain a 100mm discharge gap consistently, ensuring the secondary cone crusher operated at peak efficiency with a balanced load.
