The customer in this project is a large domestic cogeneration power plant that generates significant quantities of coal-fired slag daily. The original disposal method – stockpiling and outsourced landfill – not only occupied valuable land and posed environmental pollution risks but also provided no economic return from the waste, with annual solid waste disposal costs remaining persistently high. To comply with solid waste resource utilization policies and reduce costs while improving efficiency, the customer constructed a new slag resource recovery crushing line for producing recycled aggregates and recovering valuable metals.

Based on the customer’s processing scale, slag characteristics, and site conditions, Huashengming Heavy Industry customized a slag roll crusher production line solution to replace traditional hammer crushers and impact crushers, specifically addressing the challenges of power plant slag crushing while achieving large-scale, stable, and low-cost solid waste recycling.

II. Key Customer Pain Points

The customer had previously tested various conventional crushers, all of which failed to handle the complex conditions of power plant slag. The key pain points were:

1. Poor product quality and low utilization rate: Power plant slag is loosely structured and prone to generating fines. Traditional high-speed impact crushing causes excessive fines, with high powder content and irregular particle shapes that fail to meet building aggregate standards. The material cannot be sold or reused on-site, resulting in minimal resource value.

2. Poor adaptability to wet/dry materials and frequent clogging: Due to weather and stockpile conditions, power plant slag fluctuates between dry and wet states. Wet slag is sticky and prone to wall adhesion and caking, while dry slag tends to accumulate dust and block the chamber. Conventional equipment lacks effective anti-clogging features, leading to frequent shutdowns for cleaning and significantly reduced effective production hours.

3. Tramp iron causes jamming and high failure rates: Coal slag consistently contains tramp iron, hard slag nodules, and sand impurities. Conventional crushers have poor resistance to contaminants, frequently experiencing jamming, abnormal noise, and component damage. Breakdowns are frequent, severely impacting continuous production.

4. Rapid wear and high maintenance costs: Slag is hard and highly abrasive. Traditional equipment experiences rapid wear on hammers and liners, requiring frequent replacement of wear parts. Combined with downtime repair costs, long-term operating expenses are substantial.

III. Customized Solution

To address the harsh conditions of power plant slag – mixed wet/dry materials, high contaminant content, and strong abrasiveness – Huashengming designed a customized solution centered on a slag-specific roll crusher, integrated with feeding, screening, and magnetic separation equipment to create a complete resource recovery line precisely adapted to the customer’s production, environmental, and product processing requirements.

The equipment utilizes low-speed compression crushing technology, eliminating the drawbacks of traditional impact methods. Featuring a screenless design, the machine structurally prevents wet material adhesion and clogging. For contaminant handling, a spring overload protection system automatically retracts when encountering hard objects. Combined with precise gap adjustment, the solution ensures production stability, product quality, and low operating costs – comprehensively addressing the customer’s on-site challenges.

IV. Equipment Advantages (Application-Specific)

1. Fine particle control for slag’s powdery nature, improving resource utilization

The equipment employs low-speed compression crushing to minimize ultrafine powder generation from the source. Crushed slag particles are uniform with stable gradation, and the output can be consistently controlled below 5mm with uniform particle shape, meeting reuse standards for road base, brick making, and cement admixtures. Valuable metals are preserved during crushing, enabling metal recovery through downstream magnetic separation and significantly enhancing overall solid waste value.

2. Anti-clogging design handles wet/dry slag, ensuring 24/7 continuous production

The screenless design structurally eliminates wet material adhesion and clogging. Additionally, a discharge scraper effectively removes wet material adhering to the roller surface. Whether processing dry slag, high-moisture slag, or mixed feed, the equipment maintains continuous and stable operation without frequent shutdowns for cleaning, greatly improving overall production line efficiency.

3. Smart contaminant handling reduces equipment failure rates

To address the high content of tramp iron and hard slag nodules in power plant slag, the equipment features a spring overload protection system. When unbreakable contaminants enter the crushing chamber, the movable roller instantly retracts to increase the gap, allowing the object to pass, then automatically resets – preventing impact damage and effectively handling the plant’s variable and unpredictable feed conditions while eliminating jamming-related downtime.

4. Wear-resistant design handles slag’s high abrasiveness, significantly reducing maintenance costs

The core roller shells are made of high-chromium manganese steel with hardfacing alloy on the roller surface, effectively extending wear part service life and reducing replacement frequency. Combined with low-energy, low-speed compression operation, the equipment substantially reduces long-term operating costs for bulk slag processing.

5. Flexible particle size adjustment for multiple reuse applications

To meet the diverse reuse needs of power plant slag, the equipment supports spring pressure system adjustment for output size, allowing flexible switching between coarse and fine crushing modes to produce different aggregate specifications. Coarse material can be used for on-site road base and site leveling, while fine material can be further processed for building materials – one machine meeting the plant’s multiple needs for slag volume reduction, environmental compliance, and resource revenue generation.

V. Project Results

1. Resource utilization rate significantly improved: The qualification rate of slag aggregate products increased substantially, with all material now being fully utilized for recycling – completely eliminating waste闲置 and generating stable revenue from recycled resources.

2. Production stability significantly enhanced: Clogging, jamming, and frequent shutdowns were completely eliminated. Effective production line uptime increased, now capable of meeting the plant’s routine high-volume slag processing requirements.

3. Operating costs substantially reduced: Wear part consumption decreased and repair frequency declined. Combined with low-energy operation, the solution saves the customer significant annual equipment maintenance and solid waste disposal costs.

4. Environmental compliance achieved: The solution realizes slag reduction, and closed-loop resource utilization – completely eliminating stockpile pollution issues and fully meeting green production standards for the thermal power industry.

VI. Project Summary

This project fully validates the unique advantages of Huashengming slag roll crusher for power plant applications, precisely addressing core pain points including fine generation, wet-material clogging, tramp iron jamming, and rapid wear – enabling customers to achieve solid waste resource utilization with both environmental compliance and economic benefits.

Huashengming can customize complete crushing production lines based on each power plant’s slag conditions and capacity requirements, providing one-stop solid waste resource recovery services for thermal power and cogeneration enterprises.
